The perfect place to unwind and chill out!
This boutique luxury lodge is New Zealand owned and operated. There is a distinctly Kiwi feel inside with an impressive collection of local artwork and furnishings including host Robyn’s own paintings.
Atahuri was designed by renowned Waiheke Island architect Ron Stevenson, whose brief was to build a luxury lodge that blended with its environment. Privacy was an important factor and this is achieved with the seaward facing suites all stepping up slightly from each other.
The lodge’s central hub features a magnificent open plan kitchen and dining area with bi-folding doors leading out to the sand-dunes. A corner window seat in front of a huge picture window is a perfect place to watch pheasants feeding against the backdrop of Kapiti Island’s ever-changing mood.
A two-sided fire separates the lounge from the snug – a cosy retreat to read a book, watch a movie or make use of lodge’s laptop.
Outside, a sheltered courtyard with views of the Tararuas has a large open fire, BBQ, outdoor furniture and louvre-tech roof enabling guests to eat al fresco in most weather. Walk past the edible garden’s guava hedge and passionfruit vines to the curved shaped swimming pool and spa that capture the last of the evening sun.
Breathtaking views of the Tasman Sea and Kapiti Island can be seen from the roof top deck – a great spot to watch the sun go down! Guests can wander across to the beach stretching 46 kilometres to interact with locals surfcasting or digging for tuatuas and clams.
Robyn always looks forward to welcoming guests and helping them to experience the best of New Zealand at the beach!
Covid-19 Update
Although we do offer dinner by arrangement, we are encouraging guests to eat out to support local cafes and restaurants. There are no guest cooking facilities on site.
"Well, what can one say other than, this is paradise on earth! Stunning views across to Kapiti Island and the dunes, alive with bird life and the odd rabbit! Robyn made us so welcome with such amazing breakfasts and a very delicious dinner, so we will be returning not next week, but maybe next year, thank you so much."
